Document Actions
Ibas technology and computer forensic experience will be used when UN's weapon inspectors start to search for possible mass destruction weapon in Saddam Hussein's Iraq. A computer forensic specialist from Ibas Germany is headhunted to an UN special force to assist UN's weapon inspectors.

Some weeks ago, The UN head quarter in New York officially asked the Germany Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide a computer forensic specialist. One of the employees in Ibas Germany was chosen. He will participate in an expert group, leaving soon for the operational base in Cyprus, to assist the UN weapon inspector in their work in Iraq.

- An acknowledgement
- Ibas has built world-leading data recovery and forensic experience over the last 20 year. Even if Ibas as a company is not actively taking part of the mission, we are proud that one of our employees in Ibas Germany was head hunted by the UN to assist the weapon inspectors, says Tormod Nymoen, marketing manager in Ibas. - Our employee is highly skilled, and has experience from complicated forensic cases. We are confident that he will be a very useful resource for the United Nations, says Nymoen.

May find sensitive information
The British newspaper, The Independent, lately stated that official employees close to Saddam Hussein, is asked to hide sensitive information about mass destruction weapons. Even without knowing the official UN mandate, it is likely that the Ibas specialist will assist in the following tasks:
o To find and recover deleted information
o To find and open password protected documents
o To find and document systems for weapon technology development
By using Ibas technology and expertise it is possible to provide neutral and well-documented technical facts from both operating and destroyed storage media. In the end it will be UN's task to analyse and potentially use any electronic evidence as proof of existing mass destruction weapons in Iraq.

Hans Blix is heading the UN group
The Ibas employee has signed a 3-month contract with the UN. He will officially be an UN employee, with full diplomatic status. The UN and the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted 10 different technology companies in Germany. Ibas Germany and the forensic specialist have been thoroughly interviewed and screened. He will sign into a special expert team with 80 specialists in a wide range of technical areas, i.e. weapons, chemicals, computer technology etc. 50 UN employees will support the expert group. A Swede, Hans Blix, will head the total group of 130.
