Ibas completes recovery of "Sleipner" data
Scandinavia´s leading laboratory within recovery and erasure of data, Ibas AS in Kongsvinger, Norway, has now completed the task of recovering data from the electronic chart system installed on the shipwrecked fast ferry "Sleipner". The job has been considered an extreme case and was technically very complicated.
The work was made especially difficult due to corroded
mechanical parts. The hard disk had also suffered considerable physical
shock damage.Busy days for Ibas
- Ibas has managed to recover just over 90 percent of the data files belonging to the navigation system, although some of these files were partly damaged. Approximately 70 percent is fully recovered, but we don't know if we have saved the most important data. It is not our task to interpret the data. These data will now be analysed by other parties, Tormod Nymoen, Marketing Manager for Ibas, remarks.
