Virus does not delete data files

Data security company, Ibas, one of the world's leading companies in Data Recovery and Data Erasure, warns against companies who claim that data has been erased by a virus. It often turns out that the files have not been destroyed, but only made inaccessible to the users. Loss of data caused by a virus can therefore be recovered.

Customers have contacted Ibas' companies over the whole of Europe in despair about having lost data. After the "Love letter" virus, Ibas received more than 300 inquiries from frantic customers. Many of these had been informed that all hope was lost after the virus attack. Similar misinformation has now been given in connection with the VBS virus.

Recovery
- We have developed our own tools that can recover the files, even if the virus sets the file length to zero. We receive such work weekly, though not always as the result of a virus, but simply due to user mishaps. Even if the file system has been "written over", we have extensive file knowledge from more than 20 years of experience. This means that we can read where the files start and end and can therefore recover the data, Marketing Manager Tormod Nymoen in Ibas AS informs.
